The Artist

Experience bespoke art that marries originality with sustainability.

Specialising in Afrocentric and wildlife themes. Every piece is crafted on up-cycled canvases, breathing new life into art.

Zimbabwean-born, Norfolk-based artist Tina Doughty creates bold, textured works that celebrate the vibrant diversity of our world. As a mixed-race artist, Tina brings a unique global perspective to her canvas, bridging the gap between traditional heritage and modern interior design. Her  portfolio is a testament to the beauty of life in all its forms from powerful, gold-leaf portraits of diverse cultures to striking, soulful wildlife studies.

After rediscovering her creative soul, she launched Art By Cocopina to prove that art is more than paint on canvas; it is a story of resilience, connection, and the power of starting something new.

Purpose

I am not an artist who chases 'multiple zeros' on a price tag. My mission is simple: to ensure that beautiful, soulful art is accessible to everyone, not just the few. While I take immense pride in the craftsmanship and quality of my work, I believe that the true value of a painting isn't found in a high markup, but in the home where it lives. There is a profound liberation in knowing that my work is hanging in diverse households across the UK in the living rooms of real people who truly appreciate it. To me, knowing that my art is affordable and loved is a payment that stays with me far longer than any profit margin. I create for the joy of connection, not for the pursuit of fame.

Women of Colour

Vibrant and expressive pieces celebrating rich African  and Carribean heritage and culture.

Growing up, I searched for my reflection in the art on the walls and the portraits in the shops, but the world was silent. I lived through the quiet ache of an identity crisis, in a society that often whispered to Black women that our natural beauty and especially our hair  was something to be altered or hidden. I created Art By Cocopina to break that silence. My portraits are a celebration of unapologetic identity and the crowning glory of our natural hair. I paint so that every young girl can see herself mirrored in gold, growing up with a sense of profound pride and the knowledge that her beauty is, and always has been, a masterpiece.

My strength is a gift from the women who raised me. I am the proud product of two powerful African legacies rooted in the resilience of my late mother in Zimbabwe and the determination of my stepmother from Somalia. Growing up surrounded by the wisdom of these two formidable women, I learned that a woman’s spirit is unbreakable. My art  is my nod of deep appreciation to them; it is a tribute to the heritage they instilled in me and the courage they passed down. Every piece of art I create is an echo of their strength, a celebration of the African soil that nurtured me, and a testament to the diverse, beautiful lineage that defines exactly who I am.

Wildlife

My wildlife studies are a journey back to the heart of my childhood. Having lived in multiple African countries from Malawi, South Africa, Kenya to Sudan. Traveling extensively with my late father, a farmer and naturalist, the rhythms of the wild are embedded in my soul. These pieces are more than portraits; they are a reenactment of happy memories the sights and sounds of African lodges and the majestic animals that shaped my early years. Through my art, I invite you to share in those vivid, sun-drenched memories of a life lived close to the earth.

Portraiture

Personalized portraits that capture the essence and personality of individuals.

A portrait is more than an image; it is a heartbeat captured in texture and gold. My work moves beyond the lens of a camera to evoke the true emotion and spirit of the subject. I don't aim for a flat, photographic copy, I aim for an original, expressive painting that feels alive. Each commission is a deeply personal collaboration, where I weave in bespoke details that tell your story, whether it’s a tribute to a loved one who has passed, a celebration of your children, or a milestone moment you want to hold onto forever. I take immense pride in creating these 'living memories' bespoke, original, and filled with the soul of the people you love most.

Upcycling

I believe that true beauty often lies in what others have discarded. As a sustainable artist, my process begins with the thrill of the hunt scouting charity shops and recycling centres to rescue high-quality, solid wood canvases that were headed for landfill. I thrive on the challenge of upcycling; these vintage structures often possess a strength and character that modern, mass-produced canvases simply cannot match. I see the 'ghosts' of old backgrounds not as obstacles, but as the foundation for a new life. Using a tactile fusion of textured pastes, reclaimed fabrics, and spray paints, I breathe 3D life into these rescued frames. For me, art is an act of restoration it’s about saving the planet, one beautiful, high-relief masterpiece at a time.
